The Architectural Review Board is available to assist you with any questions you may have during the home building process. Their experiences with a variety of builders and familiarity with Kiawah Island allows them to give unique insights beyond the necessary policy and procedures.

Fall in love with your site before you fall in love with your plan

Kiawah Island is site driven. Site development on Kiawah Island is geared toward designing with nature in mind. Having a preconceived notion of a floor plan would be counter productive if the site you are building on will not allow for your dream home.

 

Look at your neighbors

After selecting your site, it's time to choose an architect. Before hiring one, it might be helpful to drive around Kiawah Island and find homes that reflect your design style. You may inquire with a KIRE Sales Executive, the ARB, or other design professionals in reference to the architect on file for those on your list.

 

Hire an architect

Take your time in choosing an architect so that you find the perfect match. You will be working very closely with them to design your home, and a good relationship helps to make the process a pleasant one.

The new construction review process consists of a Site Analysis, Conceptual Review, Preliminary Review, and Final Review. If at any time you a have a question about the building process, the ARB is available to answer your questions. They will be more than happy discuss any concerns you or your design team may have as you continue through all phases of the review.
